Vision of a New Era
Studio Ochre is a furniture and design studio based in Gurugram, specialising in handcrafted leather furniture. The studio explores leather not only as an upholstery material but as a defining design element, using techniques such as leather wrapping, strap work, and stitched paneling to create distinctive surfaces and forms.
Its work spans a range of furniture including sofas, beds, dining pieces, cabinets, and barware, along with bespoke furniture and custom interior projects. Studio Ochre works with various types of leather sourced from trusted Indian tanneries, alongside materials such as wood, metal hardware, and fabrics, selecting each with a focus on durability and craftsmanship.
With in-house production supported by a skilled team of artisans, the studio continues to develop furniture that highlights material integrity, thoughtful detailing, and long-lasting design.
Tushar Chhabra
Founder & Design HeadTushar Chhabra is the founder and creative force behind Studio Ochre. A graduate of the Accessory Design program at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi, he began his professional journey within the furniture export industry before establishing his own studio practice in 2010.
Driven by a strong affinity for leather and wood as materials, Tushar envisioned a design practice that would explore leather beyond its conventional use in upholstery. Through years of experimentation, he developed distinctive techniques such as leather wrapping, strap constructions, and stitched panel surfaces, allowing leather to function as both a structural and expressive design medium.
His approach to design remains deeply hands-on. Tushar is closely involved in every stage of a product’s development, from initial concept and material exploration to final assembly in the workshop. This direct engagement with the craft process ensures that each piece reflects the studio’s emphasis on precision, detailing, and material integrity.
Under his direction, Studio Ochre has grown from a small leather workshop into a furniture and interior design studio known for its craft-led approach to leather furniture.
Mohit Chhabra
Business DevelopmentMohit Chhabra joined Studio Ochre in 2016, bringing with him several years of professional experience in the finance sector. A graduate in commerce, he oversees the business operations of the studio, including finance, marketing, and business development.
Working alongside the design team, Mohit plays a key role in shaping the studio’s strategic growth while maintaining its focus on craftsmanship and product quality. His responsibilities span client relations, brand development, and expanding Studio Ochre’s presence both within India and internationally.
By managing the operational and business aspects of the practice, Mohit enables the studio’s design and production teams to continue focusing on material exploration and craftsmanship.

Our Evolution
Studio Ochre operates from its workshop and studio in Udhyog Vihar, Gurugram, where design and production exist within the same space. The facility houses both the showroom and the production floor, allowing visitors to experience the making process alongside the finished pieces.
Over the years, what began as a small leather workshop has grown into a larger craft-driven studio supported by a team of skilled artisans. Today, around 30–40 craftsmen work closely with the design team, shaping each piece through hands-on processes and specialised leather techniques.
As the studio has evolved, the space has grown with it, expanding from a modest beginning into a dedicated workshop where material experimentation, craftsmanship, and furniture design continue to develop side by side.
